The idea of celebrating Christmas in July was started by a girls summer camp in South Carolina on July 24, 1935. Shortly after in 1940, the theme was popularized by a Hollywood comedy, Christmas in July.
Since its inception, Christmas in July has evolved to include annual traditions such as a Christmas movie marathon on the Hallmark Channel, volunteering with the Edmonton Christmas Bureau, or throwing your own Christmas in July party.
